Tubular Motors: General Discussion / Re: Existing mounting bracket compatibility
« Last post by admin on March 21, 2017, 10:30:17 PM »
Hello, I would say that an exact retrofit that works perfectly is unlikely. You may have to use our supplied mounting bracket and screw it into wall or bolt it to the existing bracket. We have had thousands of customers do this quite successfully, with perhaps some modification/adaptation required.

If you buy a motor to try it out, if it doesn't work you can return the motor, provided it is in 'as new' condition.

Regards, Adrian

I want to retrofit manual roller shades on 1.5" tubes that are operated with chains. I want to reuse the existing mounting brackets that are designed to work with M-16 clutches. Will the tube end adapter on your motors mate with my brackets?

They tell me the controller can be reprogrammed but the programming will affect all blinds on that controller.  Thank I will be putting in the mail ASAP.

Hi, I expect that means their controller can't provide the extra bit of current our motors require as ours have generally more lift capacity than the Automotion originals. I never expected that to be a disadvantage!

Anyway, sorry for your trouble, we'll refund the unit for you.

The problem is a 12volt shade controller by a company called American Technology Components in Elkhart, IN.  I talked to them and they tols me the controllers are programmed to the shade motors specs, anything out of range from those specs will cause instant shutdown.

Hi, ok, please let us know as we have never seen this problem before. It may be that they have a new system that only works with their motors. Most of our customers have reported that they won't sell just the motor replacement, it has to be the complete shade.

Hi, I forgot to mention the procedure; please send the return request via our contact form:

http://RollerTrol.com/contact-us

By the way, did you contact the support group at Automotion? It might be worth doing that to figure out what the problem is, since the motor works fine when connected to 12v.
