Choosing a home automation system / Re: Trouble pairing with smartthings?
« on: December 16, 2015, 10:59:15 AM »
Good Morning, thank you for the extensive feedback. I wasn't sure if you were just starting out, but clearly you have had plenty of experience already with the SmartThings controller.

I agree that it is very unlikely that you have 2 defective trigger modules, so I'm thinking this is likely just a procedural issue as I know others have used our trigger module with SmartThings.

Personally, I have not used it with SmartThings but I will do some research on this and let you know. We have a Vera unit here and it paired up with that with no problems.

Hello, have you paired any other Z-Wave device? Did you follow the instructions in the article series link we sent with the tracking info?

It's possible you have either a defective module or a defective hub, or perhaps a bad power supply.

The pairing is usually a pretty simple process, so if you would like us to send you another module to test, please contact me in the morning by email.

Tubular Motors: General Discussion / Re: skylight shades
« on: March 13, 2015, 12:27:47 PM »
Hello, thanks for your interest in our cellular skylight shade system.

The frame for the motorized skylight shade is relatively easy to build, but this project certainly has more to it than a regular roller blind retrofit. Please review what we did with our demo so that you are comfortable with what is involved:

http://RollerTrol.com/skylight-shade-motor-kit-instructions

We have had many customers successfully complete the installation of our ShadeSlider system (at a cost far below what it might have been), but not everyone has the required skills.

With regards to your question about the angle, it does not matter as it will work at any angle, from horizontal all the way through to vertical (and some customers have used it to make bottom-up cellular window shades).

I should also mention that the cellular material comes in many different colors, and can also be translucent or full blackout. The fabrics can be seen at our custom shade website:

If I can be of further assistance, please contact me anytime.

Hi @jppadula, that is very odd, I will check our contact page. I checked our records and for some reason we did not receive anything from you. This is very unusual, and we almost always answer email right away.

Due to the worldwide shipping and varying time zones we are not a phone-centric organization, email works much better for us.

We also record all client email conversations in a centralized database so that we can see your discussion history at a glance (so you don't have to explain things over and over again).

Hi @jppadula, I think the first thing would be to make sure you have the correct motor. Please send the part number from the label on the motor.

Pairing remotes to motors and assigning channels / Re: Multiple remotes
« on: September 06, 2014, 02:22:16 PM »
Hi Sonny, sorry for the late reply. Each remote channel on each remote is individually assigned to a motor; this allows maximum flexibility.

Yes, the instructions for using the RFXCOM transceiver are on the Vera page:

If I can be of further assistance, please contact me anytime.

Hi Sonny, this will not be a problem, our remote control system is very flexible.

Each motor can learn the codes from multiple channels from the same remote or different remotes. The codes are stored in the motor in non-volatile memory.

This means you can group motors onto a single channel, and assign them to their own unique channel, and then replicate that functionality on another remote.

Quite often our customers have a wall mount wireless remote at the room entry, and hand held multi-channel 'floaters' in the room somewhere, on a coffee table or a night table. No problem doing "hers and his" either.

We purposely keep the cost of our remotes down in a reasonable price range, and we like to refer to them as 'affordable luxury'.

If I can be of further assistance, please contact me anytime.

Hi, our 12 lb heavy duty motors will handle a shade of that size, but finding a tube and fabric that long can be difficult. Often it is actually less expensive to split it into 2 shades.

Hi, if you use our Universal Interface to operate our non-radio motors, it is rated at 10 amps, so it will operate approximately 5 of our standard motors connected in parallel, depending on physical load conditions. If your shades are lighter, you could probably run about 7 or 8 shades.

We do not make a multi-channel unit yet. If you have a lot of shades to operate, you might want to consider using our multi-channel radio motors. The hand held remotes can operate 14 separate channels (plus an ALL channel), and you can group as many as you like onto a single channel. You can also have multiple remotes in the same room that are controlling the same configuration. We also have 1 and 2 channel wall mounts remotes (wireless) that can be added to that same system (and timers, and sun sensors).

You can further extend your system with our USB transceiver, which can theoretically control approximately 60,000 separate motor channels, although we have not tested that many yet. It interfaces with Vera, Homeseer and Event Ghost so that our motors become just another device in the control screens of those systems.

You can also continue to use your room remotes; the USB transceiver just extends the capabilities. The Vera units, for instance, allow you to control your devices from any phone, tablet or PC connected to the internet, from any location, through a secure encrypted connection.

Inside vs Outside diameter and other key issues / Re: Waterproof?
« on: March 22, 2013, 03:05:07 PM »
Hi @alesko, the motors are quite weatherproof, especially when they are inserted into the tube. They are not waterproof, as in submersible, so you should avoid direct contact with rain.

Sure, upload picture, but please don't make it too big.

If I can be of further assistance, please contact me anytime.

Lift, torque, size and other issues / Re: Weights over motor max
« on: February 22, 2013, 04:07:01 PM »
Hi, thanks for your interest.

That's not a good idea as the motors will end up fighting each other. We have higher capacity motors coming out within the next month; if you send us an email we'll put you on the "notify" list.

If I can be of further assistance, please contact me anytime.
